I’m still so excited and grateful that my Kickstarter was fully funded. 63 people pledged to make the dream of publishing Killer’s List come true! Pat on the back to you, from me, for supporting me. ((to me… to you. Some people won’t be old enough to remember that. Peachy is old enough by a few decades.)) It means so much and we can all share in the excitement when the book is alive! ((they won’t be so excited when they read it and discover who Tom actually is…))
Just a mention that anyone who has paid postage costs, if I will see you at a book launch in person ((Peachy still has to organise these – I don’t know what she does with her days!)) then I will refund the postage money. It takes around 2 weeks for me to receive the Kickstarter money so I will be in touch.
Now the hard work really starts ((You don’t know what hard work is Peachy. Don’t know you are born)) as in to plan my marketing campaign to try and reach as many people as possible once Killer’s List is published. I will update Kickstarter on a monthly basis with progress reports as some people don’t follow this blog ((Well, they are missing out! Who else provides such sarcastic entertainment as me? No-one, that’s who!))
I’m collecting my Killer’s List manuscript from my editor next week ((I hope you paid your editor extra for all the red pens they’ve had used. I bet it blew their stationery budget!)) so that will be my first job. I suspect that will take me to the end of July as I’m away visiting family for a week before the end of the month ((UNBELIEVABLE!!!!)) Look, Brackets. I work freelance, how many times – I can work from anywhere ((I hear Musk needs someone for a one in a lifetime trip to another planet…)) Oh I would so do that. ((Right, people we need to make this happen. This is a one in a lifetime chance to get rid of Peachy… oh wait, what about our secret plans?)) You see, you need me.
We digress, as usual. The book timeline will be something like this…
July: Editing
August/Sep : Send to beta readers/proof check
October: Typesetting / cover
November: Order proofs /amendments following proofs
November – February: Marketing/book launches
I know this leaves a lot of time as I’m aiming for February publication but I need to plot in the book launches and account for holidays ((Of which there are many!)) and Christmas etc. It’s possible that if I think it’s ready for Christmas that I might publish earlier but I have lot of marketing to do so I want to leave the February date in for my sanity. I also have to allow for my freelance work which is paid and keeps the coffee, Prosecco, rose and Bailey’s cupboard topped up. All things required for a creative life!
I will also be editing book two this year which has been written but needs a whole new read through/edit based on the edits from book one. I would love to publish book two in 2027 as well, but this depends on the financial success of book one!
As I’m out and about over the next few weeks ((As opposed to what? You’re never at home!)) I will catching up with people and having a good old thank you celebration with some lovely people who have supported my Kickstarter.
Thanks again everyone and let’s see where this exciting book adventure takes us!
Clair ((And Brackets)) xx
P.S. thanks for all the lovely comments I’ve had about my hair. Decided to chop it all off in Falmouth. Thank goodness I did after this horrid heatwave we’ve had! Steel boats are hot you know lol.
