So, what’s the best way to celebrate finishing your first full edit of your book? Having a glass of fizz and defrosting the freezer obviously!!! Its called doing one of the jobs you have been putting off while you have been writing and editing!
I am so happy to have finished my first full edit. Lots more work to do, but feeling pretty chuffed with myself! I have learned so much. One main thing is not to stress quite so much! Stick to your story, listen to feedback and try to apply it. I love my characters – you WILL too or else I will set Tom on you… Some of you know about Tom… Some of you will be meeting him very soon 😉
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement from everyone, it really helps. My plans now… after I have finished defrosting the freezer – I am pretty sure most top authors do similar things when they finish their first edit lol. My plans; Full read of it to make sure I have the storylines in the right order – then another edit – another read through – then ready to let my ‘Editors’ (some friends) check it over. then I hope to send to some publishers mid July – eeekkkkkkkk. I am literally going to faint if anyone responds lol.
Anyway off to freeze my fingers off and sup my fizz. night my friends xx

After living in various parts of the UK, including Wakefield, York, Derby, and the Yorkshire Dales, I now live in Nottinghamshire on a Narrowboat. I enjoy reading, writing, travelling, walking, kayaking, watching all forms of motorbike racing and socialising (networking).
At the beginning of my writing journey, I started a blog which tracks the ups and downs of writing, trying to get published and self-publishing. I need to mention that my blog posts are usually visited by ‘Brackets’!
My fantasy series, Festival of Time is now complete with the publication of Book Three: Battle in November 2022 which now joins, Festival of Time: Book Two: Rescue, and Festival of Time: Book One: Escape. Click ‘books’ on my website to find out more and follow me on social media for updates - I love chatting with readers and authors.
In 2021 I signed a digital publishing contract with Saga Fiction and now have three stories published on their app and Power of Nature is my latest thriller/mystery novel to be published by Saga Fiction and is available on Kindle and Kobo. Another story is coming in 2023.
I am part of a wonderful writing group in Newark: Fosseway Writers and I have a story in The Brinwade Chronicles, which is a collection of 28 Gothic stories by 13 writers. I’ve also contributed to a Fosseway collaborate novel, Burning Old School Ties and our latest anthology, Blood, Sweat and Typewriters They are all available on Amazon. We are working on our project for 2023.
In February 2019 I was lucky enough to travel to New Zealand. During my time there I wrote a journal about our bucket list 43-day adventure. This has now been turned into a travel guide: 187 Kilometres, turn left - now available on Amazon.
A Christmas Wish, is my third self-published story, which came to life after I’d published a Game of Souls in December 2018. My short story, A night lost to the past, won third place in the Newark Book Festival 2018 writing competition, which was run by the Fosseway Writers group. This was well received, and many readers asked me to develop and expand the story. A Christmas Wish and A night lost to the past have now been reedited and have been published with Saga Fiction.
SagaFiction : One novel currently in editing / Short-story for an Anthology in progress.
Fosseway project 2023 : Writing about buildings in Newark - I'm planning to write about St Mary Magdalene Church.
I'm very excited to start rewriting my psychological series, which will hopefully be published in 2023!

Well done on your achievement.
Congratulations!! (for defrosting your freezer on a Thursday night?! Definitely rock star behaviour! 😂) Oh yes….and for completing the first edit!!! 🙂 Amazing!
It has been inspiring reading about your progress on this blog…. And also a little disturbing at times when you’ve given little hints of Tom’s character in some of your text messages …😲 I can’t wait to find out more…. (I think?)! Good luck with the next steps!!!! X
Ah thanks so much mate. Tom is so mis-understood – maybe its the way i tell it 😂. Looking forward to sharing what happens next!! Maybe Tom or Hope will surprise us all 😉. Xx
Well done on first edit, hard work pays off! Hey just thought, if you print off a copy of finished article, sign it of course and sell it to me you will be published!
Well done again
Haha brilliant!! Thanks Steve. I did print it off today so i could do my second edit and full read through. I did get a fabulous feeling seeing all my words on paper. I am gonna be a mess if i ever get published!! The excitement will ridiculous! I will become famous in the town… ‘have you seen that strange girl that walks around town grinning like a cheshire cat and constantly has a glass of Prosecco in her hand?’ Says Steve to Jenny, “yes i have! I have been told to avoid her at all times’ says Jenny 😂😂😂
Well done and enjoy the fizz!
Thanks. Felt quite good getting the freezer done as well lol.
