((Pinch, punch, first of the month and no return! HA!)) first my mother and brothers got me and now you! ((It’s not your month Peachy and it’s only the 1st November!))
Anyway, enough of that, I’m here to share some serious information ((I doubt that.)) I’m at the very impatient and anxiety driven stage of the publishing journey, as I wait for the final checking stage ahead of uploading and ordering the first paper proof of Killer’s List and book 2 has been sent to my editor. In my freelance job I support authors in the publication of their books and at this time more reassurance is needed as it’s a very scary but exciting time. Even though I’m writing a thriller, it’s still my book, my words and my pride that takes a hit if it doesn’t do well. Killer’s List will be my 9th published book but those feelings are the same as book 1.
To stop myself spiralling into anxiety, I woke up this morning and thought what’s the best way to deal with it… set a goal… I love a goal… it’s been a while but I’ve written a few of my books by taking part in NaNoWriMo. Which is National Novel Writing Month, this is no longer ‘a thing’ I don’t think. You used to be able to sign up to and track your progress but why not just do it anyway i decided.
I wanted to write the first three book in the Hope Andrews Thriller Series before I publish the first one, as it means I can change any plot threads/characters before I commit them into the world.
I have a few things coming up in November ((Of course you do!)) so I will be aiming to write 50,000 words in November as a total, rather than splitting to a daily target of 1,666 words. Book three is going to be quite complex to write as there are so many sneaky, scheming characters up to no good and plot twists to contend with and as a result I’ve been updating my character spreadsheet to keep track of it all. ((What a geek!))
I’m going to share daily progress ((Such joy. What a gift you’re giving us. It’s almost like an early advent calendar but not…like an anti-gift)) on my socials with the odd full update on here so your inbox doesn’t explode.
Book 3 currently sits at 7,851. My novels are around 74K so if I can add 50k to the book, I will be on track.
Today’s total is… 2,029 /50,000 Not a bad start and I managed to get back into the story and OMG chapter 4! I love it when something happens that I’m not expecting.
For anyone interested in my Lost the Plot book, the ebook is on offer for £1.99 until the 6th November. I would love to reach 100 reviews by end of the year if anyone has read it and hasn’t left a star rating or review i would really appreciate it.
Wish me luck!
